Romancing The Rock: 2 Special Valentine’s Events in White Rock

February 6th, 2012

Valentine’s Day is fast approaching, but don’t worry – we’ve got you covered! Whether you’re dating or single, White Rock has two fantastic Valentine’s events that should definitely be on your radar.

1. Music for your Valentine

Peninsula Productions is thrilled to present Lache Cercel and The Roma Swing Ensemble at the First United Church on Friday February 10. This 8pm concert is the perfect excuse for a pre-Valentine’s date and it will no doubt be an unbelievable evening of gypsy jazz and world music.

Peace Arch News journalist Alex Browne writes, “The virtuoso Romanian-born violinist has a soulful tone that speaks of generations of music tradition in his own family – and a staggering technique refined through years of classical music studies and performance. In format, his music acknowledges both his roots and the jazz style of Stephane Grappelli and Django Reinhardt that came to worldwide fame in the 1930s.” Read the rest of the article here.

How to Purchase Tickets

Tickets are $25 (or $30 at the door) which you can purchase from the Surrey Arts Centre, Tapestry Music (at 1335 Johnston Road), and at the First United Church. Check out Penninsula Productions’ website or like them on Facebook for more information about their upcoming events.

How to Get There

The First United Church is located at 15285 Semiahmoo Ave in White Rock.

2. REMIXX: Valentines Girls Night Out

If you’re single and female (and even if you’re not single or female), you won’t want to miss out on this unique mix and mingler.

White Rock’s Blue Frog Studios – a world-class recording studio and performance venue – is putting on REMIXX: Valentines Girls Night Out on February 14 which begins with an all-female cocktail party mix & mingler followed by a live music dance party with Myles Bigelow Duo. And yes, men are allowed for the latter part of the evening festivities. They write, “You’ll be treated like a lady from the time you enter the door. Eye Candy to be expected. Grab a drink at the cash bar and a plate of nibblies and interact and schmoosh with our Star Sponsors.” Read the rest of the details here.

How to Purchase Tickets

Tickets are $20 and can be purchased online from Blue Frog Studios here. Get your tickets early as the event will sell out!

Men? You’re allowed to be there too… after 9pm. Then it’s $10 at the door for you.

How to Get There

Blue Frog Studios is located at 1328 Johnston Road in White Rock.

    About 604 Pulse

Where should we go this weekend? This is a question we hear a lot, and it’s a question we often ask ourselves. So we had an idea: why not create a website where we explore all the things to see and do in the Vancouver, Coast & Mountains region, and then share them with you. We’ll provide locals and visitors personal insight into the cool things you can see and do in the region. Each week we’ll give you new tips, highlight upcoming events, share our favourite blogs, and tell you about our travels.

Vancouver, Coast & Mountains is a non-profit society, which represents business and community tourism interests from throughout the region. VCM invites you to come and discover the four distinct destination areas that make up Vancouver, Coast & Mountains: Metro Vancouver, Mighty Fraser Country, Sea to Sky Country, and the Sunshine Coast.
