On December 17 and 18 the highly anticipated Canadian Pacific Holiday Train rolls into the Vancouver, Coast & Mountains region. The train left Beaconsfield, Quebec on November 27 and since then has been crossing the country spreading holiday cheer and raising funds and food for local food banks. This year the train will be rolling through the VCM communities of Lytton, North Bend, Agassiz, Maple Ridge and Port Moody.

Truly a spectacular sight, 14 brightly decorated cars are covered in hundreds of thousands of LED lights, and artists perform on a modified boxcar that has been turned into a traveling stage. This year’s show features performances by Canadian artists Miss Emily and Doc Walker, with a special appearance by Santa Claus himself!
Those communities fortunate enough to qualify as a Holiday Train stop throw celebrations in anticipation of the trains arrival with roaring bon-fires, cookie decorating stations, hot chocolate and musical entertainment as they wait for the illuminated train to come thundering down the track. And elves (often in the form of local firefighters) will be on site collecting for the food bank, so be sure to bring a donation.
