Hop-On Hop-Off with Vancouver Trolley for BC Family Day

January 24th, 2013

“Clang, clang, clang” went the trolley
“Ding, ding, ding” went the bell

I don’t know about you, but I smile every time I hear that song. I can just picture Judy Garland hanging off one of the famous San Francisco trolleys singing away … and yes, I know that isn’t how the movie goes! But you don’t have to go all the way to San Francisco to hop on a trolley and explore. In fact, if you’ve been in Vancouver recently you may have glimpsed what appeared to be a San Francisco trolley going by. Don’t worry, your eyes haven’t deceived you, it’s one of The Vancouver Trolley Company’s replica, turn of the century San Francisco style trolleys. Look a little closer next time and you’ll see that it’s full of happy people enjoying all of the amazing sights that the city has to offer.

Vancouver Trolley - Chinatown

The Vancouver Trolley Company’s Hop-On, Hop-Off City Attractions Tour is a great way for visitors (and locals) to enjoy Vancouver’s most popular areas. The tour stops at all the hot spots, including Stanley Park, Chinatown, Gastown and Granville Island. Lively (and live), informative commentary provides riders the opportunity to learn what makes Vancouver such a spectacular and special city. The drivers are amazing and full of knowledge about the city. For example, did you know that the Sam Kee Building in Chinatown, at just 6 feet wide, is the narrowest commercial building in the world? Or that Granville Island used to be called Mud Island because it was built from fill sucked up from the bottom of False Creek? Just a couple of tidbits we learned from a Vancouver Trolley tour!

Vancouver Trolley - Gastown

There are 30 stops on the Hop-On, Hop-Off tour. Not sure you have time to see everything? You can customize the tour to see Vancouver at your own pace. Only have a couple of hours? Stay on the trolley and take the entire tour in 2 hours. But, if you’ve got the time, and this is how we recommend it, you can hop-off at any of the 30 stops to check out attractions, shop or eat! And then you can just hop back on another trolley to continue the tour. Your ticket includes an onboard coupon book and a free False Creek Ferries ticket, which makes it a great choice for families. And what better way to celebrate Family Day than to park your car, sit back and relax with your family while enjoying door-to-door service to all of the atractions?

In the words of the Vancouver Trolley Company, “each trolley ticket is our guest’s passport to A World of Fun, Information and Excitement!”, and they’re exactly right!

The Vancouver Trolley Company is offering a special promotion for Family Day. Enjoy a special family rate (2 adults, 2 children) of $75.

  8. I live on Vancouver Island and I would like to win this package for for my son and granddaughter who live in Vancouver. My granddaughter, Emma is five years old and is an “Earth Ranger” with the Vancouver Aquarium – she’s helping to save the Oregon Spotted Frog, so I expect that the stop she would love most is the one in Stanley Park that’s closest to the aquarium.

  10. Pick me, pick me. Your next winner!!! Show me the money! The Chinatown stop so I can sight see this great historical site. It would be a dream come true and means a lot more to me than anyone else to win the prize. Starving artist here desperately needs the prize ride. A life changing experience. Top of my bucket list.

  11. I would love to explore the Gastown District of Vancouver!

With all its richness of history, I could see myself spending time in that area. I would do a “hop off” near the Old Spaghetti Factory for lunch, then hop back on to the tour again, for the Waterfront leg of the trip.

    About 604 Pulse

Where should we go this weekend? This is a question we hear a lot, and it’s a question we often ask ourselves. So we had an idea: why not create a website where we explore all the things to see and do in the Vancouver, Coast & Mountains region, and then share them with you. We’ll provide locals and visitors personal insight into the cool things you can see and do in the region. Each week we’ll give you new tips, highlight upcoming events, share our favourite blogs, and tell you about our travels.

Vancouver, Coast & Mountains is a non-profit society, which represents business and community tourism interests from throughout the region. VCM invites you to come and discover the four distinct destination areas that make up Vancouver, Coast & Mountains: Metro Vancouver, Mighty Fraser Country, Sea to Sky Country, and the Sunshine Coast.
